The Lilygo T-Deck Plus is a hand-held meshtastic radio device which looks a little bit like a Blackberry. It comes pre-assembled with an on-board GPS module and a built in 3000 mAh battery.

GUI Firmware

9/11/24 at time of writing, there aren’t any stable GUI builds available for download from the official site. In Andy Kirby’s Discord in the channel #t-deck-meshtastic-gui a user named lambusser has been providing pre-built zip bundles of the firmware which can be flashed using the instructions from Jeff’s blog above. I have mirrored the latest lambusser firmware build here

Flashing GUI Firmware

Currently the meshtastic firmware for the T-Deck Plus is quite unstable. I initially followed Jeff Geerling’s blog post on the subject in order to get up and running.

However with more recent builds this no longer seems to work perfectly. A Discord User named Subnet Conflict in Andy Kirby’s discord uploaded a video walk through of the current process. I haven’t mirrored this but you can find the video on the discord channel.

The process is more or less:

  1. Download the firmware zip from here
  2. Extract the zip file to a local directory
  3. Use the meshtastic flasher to flash firmware.factory.bin to the device
  4. Use the ESP web flasher to flash firmware.bin to address 0x10000
  5. Reset the device
