A number of providers now provide paid access to AI models. This was popularised in the early and mid 2010s by companies like AlchemyAPI but is now a pretty common business model.
The most famous commercial AI API offering is probably that of OpenAI who make ChatGPT and its underlying models (GPT-3, GPT-4). Others include Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini.
